Gaby is an absolutely wonderful Nanny. She has been a huge asset to our household and has always been available to watch the kids even on her non-scheduled days. She's part of the family and we all love her!! Thanks! Rachael B of Gaithersburg, Maryland

Your School Board

I hope your school board is as wonderful as ours is. Have you ever attended a meeting? These are the people you elected. This is not an appointed position (which is what I previously thought]. They work hard to get elected which I found out when my own husband ran for a position on the board. This is nothing compared to the amount of time it takes once you are on the board. The pay is a pittance, course there again we were surprised he even got paid! We thought you did this for nothing for your community and school.

Our Three Lakes School has a fabulous reputation and they along with the staff are certainly the reason. It starts with integrity, honesty, hard work and most of all, real concern for the children. Our school is kindergarten thru 12.

I attended a meeting last night as I had to give them a presentation on the Three Lakes School/Community Arts Association so I got to see them in action. The first part of the meeting is open to anyone and later they go into executive session. There is even a reporter there and the meeting's happening will appear in the next paper. Let me tell you there is alot to running a successful school and the school board IS the reason. After all THEY hire and fire the teachers, coaches and staff.

When its time to vote for them I reccomend you really learn who you are voting for. Attend the speaking forum, read the papers and get some good people on your board. They have more then you might have known to do with your child's education.

Promises and Lies

Okay I broke my promise. I said I would blog and I didn't. I'm a woman of my word. What happened? I have never made a promise I couldn't keep. It's true and the only secret to that is you are have to be careful what you promise. So here I am breaking my first promise and it's such a silly way to ruin my spotless record. I could have gone to my grave with a perfect record!

Let's move on to lies. Here's another thing I pride myself on. I don't lie. This is easy. Have you ever tried it? Sometimes you have to give pretty evasive answers like when the Santa Claus issue comes up. It becomes an easy habit with a little practice and I think kids respect you for it.

So promises and lies. I think there could not be anything better to teach children. Do you despise lying like I do? Do you hate it when promises are broken? Well then don't tolerate it. I know this was instilled in me at a very early age.
